Quality piece, color disappointing

The mantel shelf is beautifully made however, I am disappointed in the color of the stain. The color is not as 'warm' as the sample and, quite frankly, lessens the appearance. I 'spoke' with Angie who suggested that I bring it to a cabinet refinisher (she explained the product was sealed and, therefore, could not be made 'darker' or 'warmer' in color). She also said "There is going to be a little difference, not all pieces of maple will stain the same color in the cinnamon or any other color. Wood stain is not like an opaque paint finish it will never be exact. Every piece of wood stains differently. It will be in range of the color" I had NO idea that would be the case, no one ever mentioned that. It seems that I'm in a position to have to pay someone to refinish my new mantel :( Something I'm not happy about doing. Again, quality piece, color disappointing.
