Marble Mantels Decorating to last the Whole Winter

The holidays are in full swing! You may already be dreading un-decorating and worrying that your home will look bare for the rest of winter.  Have you ever entertained the idea of decorating your marble mantel for the rest of the winter months?  Here are some ideas that will keep you from feeling the blues when the holidays are over.

Artfully arrange clean-lined, wintry-colored vintage pieces. Run strings of white lights in the back.  This will create a soft glow through the timeworn glass bottles, milky-shaded pottery and delicate paper-craft art. Add pinecones and shoots of evergreens to add visual interest by breaking up the smooth white theme with their sharp colors and lines.

Blend hues of bright green with silver and brown. Cedar topiaries and a peace banner made from glittered cardboard letters will make your marble mantel beautiful throughout the winter. Add Mercury-glass vases and candleholders for a sparkling accent to the natural elements.

Make an enchanting snowy display using framed photo prints and white vases. Layer a large mirror, and add the vases and picture frames. Write your favorite quote on a lattice-framed chalkboard. Add a teeny hourglass for a reminder that spring is right around the corner.

Winter doesn't always have to mean just pinecones and evergreens. Mix natural elements like a topiary, a tree conk and a beehive with brass candlesticks and antique French confit pots. The pots add earthy warmth to your marble mantel while their imperfections give the display a one-of-a-kind look.

Adorn your marble mantel with thick pieces of faux garland layered with real evergreen branches and glitter-tipped pinecones. Make an antique mirror, by cutting a door mirror, distressing it and then piecing it back together inside a poster frame. This is a simple DIY project that can be used year round in different places in your home.
